How to find a lost dog

The best ways for you to find your lost dog are:
  1. Visit your animal shelter every week. Do not just call them, when you call you will be speaking to an office worker. They don't always know what type of dogs are in the shelter.
  2. Put flyer's up everywhere.
  3. Bring a stack of flyer's to your local police station.
  4. Put an add in your local newspapers classified section. These adds are usually free.
You have to be very proactive, if you want to find your lost dog. Don't just wait around hoping to get a call, that somebody found your dog.

I will be updating this post on a more regular basis. In the meantime, if you want much more information on this subject, visit thespiritdog.wordpress.com.

Thank You

Huxley ; One Month Later

Huxley, we now call him Huck-a-bee. Has turned into what every other new family member turns into in a very short time. A pain in the butt. You see, when a dog gets really happy they become very excited, all the time. This is the best part of our job. When one of our new guys leaves all the baggage that they come with, at the door. Now he is at a place, where he can finally be what he always wanted to be, A DOG.

Talking to your Dog "Tip#3"

Today I want to teach you the Best and ONLY way, you should ever talk to your little guy, if you truly want to communicate with him. Are you ready? This is so simple your going to wonder, "How come I didn't think of that". Here it is, are you sitting down, are you becoming breathless with anticipation, Huh?
Talk to him, just like you would talk to a baby. That's right , a Baby. Because they are just like little babies, your dog understands you by reading your body language. But more importantly the way you say things, and the way you act.
You have the ability to make them happy, sad, calm, or excited just by the way we act with them. When we try to communicate with a baby, we usually get very excited, and in turn, the baby starts laughing and becoming happier if she was sad or crying. This is the exact same way we must talk to dogs if we want to have any success at all in being able to communicate at all with them.
So try it today, try talking to your dog by letting your emotions come through your words.

Dog Training "Tip number two"

Don't get angry!
Don't get angry when Fido chews up the brand new

pet bed you bought him. Every new thing you buy ,
is , in his eyes a new toy. So don't get mad when he

chews his stuff up.
After all it is his stuff , not yours.
So, if he doesn't mind, you shouldn't mind.

Have Dog Questions? Get The Answers !

Did you ever wonder , why your little guy spins in circle's, a million times before he goes to the bathroom?
And how come ,sometimes when I give him a cookie , treat or whatever I happen to be eating at the time, he runs off , and buries it in the sofa cushions or runs outside and buries it in the dirt?
What about ,half the time I go out and buy him a brand new toy, he sticks his nose up at it. Then goes back to playing with that old squeakee toy I bought him years ago, and there's like, nothing left to it?
Oh-yeah, and how about ,whenever I give him a bowl of food, He spills the dish out, then eats it up, off the floor. What is that !
Before I forget, what does he think, that the water bowl is his own personal pool?
You know how many times a day I have to fill the water bowl up, after he's done playing in it? And mop the floor.

Find out why ,he always steals your Favorite pair of shoes.Or should I say, chews up your favorite pair of shoes!

Huxley's First Day

Today is Huxley's, first day for the rest of his life. He came from a real nice couple in Nassau county, that's western Long Island, New York. His main problem was being nervous, which unfortunately is a big problem for a lot of dogs. Hey wait a minute I'm getting off the subject here, sorry. Well anyway, he wasn't to bad when he got to meet , the other twelve dogs of the pack he is joining. He was a little shy around them at the start, for I don't know, the first five or six hours. Then he started coming out of his shell. He first started to play with Lindsey [more about her on some future blog] ,which is pretty cool considering Lindsey is friendly with her other pack mates, but really doesn't have a best bud to play with until now. To me ,its the coolest thing in the world to see one of our new friends learning to play with other dogs, the way dogs like to play best, running around like crazy, sneaking up on one another, then getting the other guy to chase them, frolicking in the snow, you know all that doggie stuff.
